7w5d pregnant and scan 2 makes it real

Published January 15, 2014 by ivfdream

Went for my scan is morning with. my very lovely fertility nurse. Straightaway, she out her thumbs up that all was super! I couldn’t believe it when she showed me the images. The foetus(which it is now, it’s officially graduated from embryo!) has grown bigger. I couldn’t believe the difference! She showed me the head, which I could make out slightly and then showed me the placenta, beginnings of the umbilical cord, brain and a bud which is the arm. I found it hard to make out this amount of details but she is obviously well experienced!
My DH couldn’t come with me today and it was a shame as it was very emotional for me and still is now as I write this. I feel that everything has changed, that life has changed and for once in my life, there is new life growing inside me. Hormones overload! The whole clinic came out to say congratulations including the director of the clinic, Declan Keane who is a gentleman and has always been so positive and down to earth since we met him in January 2013. Only a year but it feels so long ago.
I went away with my two new photos, one for DH and one for me. Going to start a little notebook now with my own written feelings aside from the blog. Nice to flick through later on, I’m sure.
The baby is measuring at 16.3 mm, doubled since last week and the pregnancy date has changed to 8w1 day. Strange but it makes sense as I’m sure it’s hard to measure the baby at the minute. It is the size of an olive or a raspberry. The nurse told me I need to start speaking to it. It will hear me!
So, I leave you feeling nauseous, slightly and full of life.
